Today’s message is the beginning of a sermon series on the Beatitudes, found in Matthew 5:1-12. The first beatitude is “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” We will consider the significance of this statement of Jesus in light of His preaching of the Kingdom of God. As we celebrate our nation’s independence, let us make every effort to depend on the Lord for true freedom.
